Project Plowshare: Nuclear Testing in Colorado
In 1969 and 1973, the Atomic Energy Commission detonated nuclear bombs deep underground in Western Colorado, to try and release natural gas. These tests were part of Project Plowshare -- an initiative to use nuclear technology for peaceful uses. The tests didn't go as planned, though....
